One Year After the Change – New Conditions for Transition in the Czech Republic

For a year now, trans and non-binary people in the Czech Republic have been able to legally change their gender and name without the requirement of castration. How does this historic change work in practice? What can you expect from authorities and medical care? Where does it bring real improvement, and where does it run into new or persisting barriers?

The panel discussion will offer perspectives from various sides – the personal experience of a trans person will be complemented by the perspectives of law, politics and medicine. Together we'll focus on how the new system works, what has changed and what still needs to be improved. We'll also discuss current challenges and topics in trans and queer rights. The audience will have space too – whether for questions about legal transition, healthcare, or for sharing their own experiences.
