About
Join historian Ladislav Jackson from the Society for Queer Memory on a guided walk through Prague's queer past. The route will take you along National Avenue and Wenceslas Square, exploring sites connected to queer history from the 19th century through 2000.
During the walk, we'll visit locations associated with the Apriles lesbian festival from the 90s, the first editorial office of the magazine Voice of Sexual Minority, and the legendary salon of queer designer Oldřich Rosenbaum. We'll remember Allen Ginsberg's stay in Prague in 1965, discover places where the golden queer youth gathered, and stop by the legendary T-Club and Bar Rostov, which operated under the surveillance of the Communist secret police.
We'll also walk past the famous Šroubek/Europa café and hotel, which survived all 20th-century regimes, recall the history of Lázně Koruna, and show you where the infamous cruising spot known as Red Devil was located.
Meeting point: At the historic building on Střelecký Island no. 336
