Mezipatra: The Bear Cave

The enigmatic Argyro leads a quiet life on a farm nestled in the enchanting Greek mountains. All she needs to be happy is her small herd of goats, dark beats in her ears, and her ever-playful friend Anneta, the prettiest girl in the village. But their long-standing friendship is shaken by unexpected news. Anneta is pregnant and moving away. Very soon. Can the girls cope with the separation, or will they dare to face the depth of their bond?

This fresh portrait of queer coming-of-age skillfully avoids genre clichés, offering an unexpected blend of Balkan folklore, authentic performances, and a sizzling summer romance. Also worth noting is the hauntingly atmospheric cinematography, which brings out the mystical beauty of the local landscape.

The feature debut of directing duo Stergios Dinopoulos and Krysianna Papadakis premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it received the Europa Cinemas Label award.
