About
A DJ workshop for emerging queer artists offering an inclusive and supportive space for people interested in DJing and electronic music. Similar activities are still rare in Prague, which makes this workshop especially valuable and unique in the local cultural context. The goal is not only to share practical skills and build confidence in artistic self-expression, but also to help empower young queer people in Prague.
The significance of this workshop lies in its opportunity to meet positive role models from countries with more advanced LGBTQ+ rights and a more open society. It will show participants how queer artists can actively create safer, more visible, and more confident cultural spaces. The workshop thus extends the impact of the Belgian program block featuring two Brussels-based DJs, which will take place in Pride Village on Wednesday evening, and supports the growth of a more diverse and stronger queer cultural scene in Prague.
The workshop will be held in English.
The event takes place at Veleslavín Chateau in Prague 6, right next to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro and tram stop, just a few minutes from the city center.
The project is financially supported by the Prague 6 Municipal District and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, which is also kindly co-organizing the entire event.
Workshop instructors Azo – one of the wildest girls around, a driving force behind Brussels parties like Queer Future Club and a resident at Kiosk Radio. This half-French, half-Brazilian artist crafts a heavy, modern fusion of acid, techno, and trance, inspired by UK rave culture and the Detroit techno era. Her boundless "power of love" takes party-goers on an incredible musical journey. She's a producer, keyboardist, DJ, and sound engineer.
Hysope – a Brussels-based performing artist who creates music for theatre and blends a love of experimentation with a touch of nostalgia. Their sound is deeply influenced by the warm, atmospheric synths of the eighties. Hysope's passion for music led them to DJing, with energetic sets combining Latin-influenced rhythms, breaks, and hardgroove. They refuse to be bound by genre conventions and love experimenting with different styles, as long as the groove is preserved.
